Job Summary
Assess, monitor, and document patient status during hemodialysis treatments, including vascular access evaluation, vital signs, and intradialytic problem intervention. Administer medications, collect laboratory specimens, and calculate dialysis machine programming for ultrafiltration goals. Provide patient and family education on disease processes, treatment adequacy measures, and transplant options while ensuring safety alarm configurations and equipment checks. Collaborate with the interdisciplinary team to adjust treatment plans, manage emergency responses, and supervise patient care technicians under the direction of a supervisor and clinical educator.
Required Qualifications
- Current appropriate state licensure
- Current or successful completion of CPR BLS Certification
- Must have a minimum of 9 months experience as a RN
- Must have a minimum of 3 months experience in chronic/acute hemodialysis as a RN
- Entry level for RNs with less than 2 years of Nephrology Nursing experience as a Registered Nurse
- Must meet the practice requirements in the state in which he or she is employed
- Must be able to lift 30 lbs.
- Must be able to move machines and equipment of up to 200 lbs.
- Must be able to bend over
- Must be able to stand for prolonged periods
- Must be able to handle exposure to infectious and contagious diseases/materials
- Must be able to travel to training sites or other facilities
- Must be able to provide essential functions of this position in other locations

- Chronic/acute hemodialysis experience (preferred)
