Job Summary

Conduct outpatient hemodialysis therapy for assigned patients, performing ongoing data collection, assessment, and treatment plan modifications. Administer medications per protocol, document clinical outcomes, and coordinate care with the interdisciplinary team. Educate patients and families on treatment modalities and transplant options while ensuring accurate laboratory processing. Provide direct patient care including patient movement and equipment handling, initiating emergency responses as needed. Collaborate with direct and ancillary staff to deliver safe, effective care in compliance with Fresenius Kidney Care policies. Complete Clinical Advancement Program requirements to advance within the organization.

Required Qualifications

  • Graduate of an accredited School of Nursing
  • Current appropriate state licensure
  • Current or successful completion of CPR BLS Certification
  • Must meet the practice requirements in the state in which he or she is employed
  • Must have a minimum of 9 months experience as a RN
  • Must have a minimum of 3 months experience in chronic/acute hemodialysis as a RN
  • Entry level for RNs with less than 2 years of Nephrology Nursing experience as a Registered Nurse
  • Must be able to lift 30 lbs. as high as 5 feet
  • Must be able to move machines and equipment of up to 200 lbs. with assistance
  • Must be able to bend over
  • Must be able to stand for prolonged periods
  • Must be able to lift and move patients
  • Must be able to assist with patient ambulation
  • Must be able to perform essential functions in other locations with the same physical demands
  • Must be able to work in an environment with moderate noise levels
  • Must be able to work in an environment with air temperature control
  • Must be able to be exposed to infectious and contagious diseases/materials
  • Must be able to perform essential functions under the direction of the Supervisor
  • Must be able to collaborate with direct and ancillary patient care staff
  • Must be able to delegate appropriate tasks to direct patient care staff including but not limited to RNs, LVN/LPNs and Patient Care Technicians
  • Must be able to participate in decision-making
  • Must be able to participate in teaching
  • Must be able to participate in leadership functions
  • Must be able to participate in quality improvement activities
  • Must be able to perform all essential functions of this position in other locations with the same physical demands and working conditions as described above
  • Must be able to complete CAP requirements to advance

Desired Qualifications

  • Chronic/acute hemodialysis experience (preferred)
