Job Summary
Conduct daily outpatient hemodialysis therapy for assigned patients, performing ongoing data collection, treatment plan adjustments, and medication administration under supervisor direction. Assess and document patient learning needs to provide education to patients and families, while collaborating with ancillary staff to ensure safe delivery of care. Manage laboratory collection and shipping procedures, initiate emergency responses, and update nursing assessments through interdisciplinary team collaboration. Serve as a resource for the health care team by participating in staff training and orientation of new employees. Requires minimum 9 months RN experience and 3 months in hemodialysis; successful completion of Fresenius Kidney Care Clinical Advancement Program (CAP) requirements is necessary to advance.
Required Qualifications
- Graduate of an accredited School of Nursing
- Current appropriate state licensure
- Current or successful completion of CPR BLS Certification
- Must meet the practice requirements in the state in which he or she is employed
- Must have a minimum of 9 months experience as a RN
- Must have a minimum of 3 months experience in chronic/acute hemodialysis as a RN
- Entry level for RNs with less than 2 years of Nephrology Nursing experience as a Registered Nurse
- Must be able to lift 50 lbs
- Must be able to lift chemical and water solutions of up to 30 lbs as high as 5 feet
- Must be able to bend over
- Must be able to move machines and equipment of up to 200 lbs with assistance
- Must be able to perform frequent, prolonged periods of standing
- Must be able to move with assistance
- Must be able to travel to training sites or other facilities
- Must be able to provide essential functions of this position in other locations
- Must be able to work in a health care facility with moderate noise levels
- Must be able to be exposed to infectious and contagious diseases/materials
- Must be able to perform desk work, computer work, interaction with patients, facility/hospital staff and physicians

- Chronic/acute hemodialysis experience (preferred)
