Job Summary
Coordinate hemodialysis therapy for assigned patients by collecting and analyzing pre-, during-, and post-treatment data to adjust treatment plans and document outcomes. Administer medications per protocol, initiate emergency responses, and ensure accurate laboratory collection and shipping procedures. Assess patient and family learning needs to provide ongoing education while collaborating with the interdisciplinary team to update care plans. Direct and supervise Patient Care Technicians, LVNs, and LPNs as a Team Leader or Nurse in Charge. Complete Clinical Advancement Program requirements to advance within the organization.
Required Qualifications
- Graduate of an accredited School of Nursing
- Current appropriate state licensure
- Current or successful completion of CPR BLS Certification
- Must meet the practice requirements in the state in which he or she is employed
- Must have a minimum of 9 months experience as a RN
- Must have a minimum of 3 months experience in chronic/acute hemodialysis as a RN
- Entry level for RNs with less than 2 years of Nephrology Nursing experience as a Registered Nurse
- Must be able to lift 200 lbs.
- Must be able to lift chemical and water solutions of up to 30 lbs.
- Must be able to stand for prolonged periods
- Must be able to bend over
- Must be able to move machines and equipment with assistance
- Must be able to move patients and assist with ambulation
- Must be able to work in an environment with moderate noise levels
- Must be able to work in an environment with air temperature control
- Must be able to work in a health care facility
- Must be able to interact with patients, facility/hospital staff and physicians
- Must be able to perform essential functions in other locations with the same physical demands and working conditions
- Must be able to travel to training sites or other facilities
- Must be able to work in a drug-free workplace
