Job Summary
Assess, plan, intervene, and evaluate care for assigned patients undergoing hemodialysis, including delegation to direct patient care staff. Perform ongoing data collection and analysis pre-, during, and post-treatment to modify treatment plans and document outcomes. Administer medications per protocol, initiate emergency responses, and ensure accurate laboratory collection and shipping. Provide education to patients and families regarding treatment modalities and transplant options. Collaborate with the interdisciplinary team to update nursing assessments and participate in staff training and quality improvement activities.
Required Qualifications
- Graduate of an accredited School of Nursing
- Current appropriate state licensure
- Current or successful completion of CPR BLS Certification
- Must meet the practice requirements in the state in which he or she is employed
- Must have a minimum of 9 months experience as a RN
- Must have a minimum of 3 months experience in chronic/acute hemodialysis as a RN
- Entry level for RNs with less than 2 years of Nephrology Nursing experience as a Registered Nurse
- Must be able to lift 200 lbs.
- Must be able to lift chemical and water solutions of up to 30 lbs.
- Must be able to bend over
- Must be able to stand for prolonged periods
- Must be able to move machines and equipment with assistance
- Must be able to assist with patient ambulation
- Must be able to move patients
- Must be able to provide assistance to coworkers
- Must be available for travel to training sites or other facilities
- Must be able to perform essential functions in other locations
- Must agree to a drug-free workplace
Desired Qualifications
- Chronic/acute hemodialysis experience (preferred)
