Job Summary
Conduct outpatient hemodialysis therapy for assigned patients, collecting and analyzing pre-, during-, and post-treatment data to adjust treatment plans. Administer medications per approved algorithms, document outcomes, and ensure correct laboratory collection and shipping procedures. Collaborate with the interdisciplinary team to assess learning needs, provide patient and family education on transplant options, and initiate emergency response measures. Direct and supervise Patient Care Technicians, LPNs, and LVNs as a Team Leader or Nurse in Charge. Complete Clinical Advancement Program requirements and participate in staff training and quality improvement activities. Requires current RN licensure, BLS certification, and at least nine months of RN experience with three months in hemodialysis.
Required Qualifications
- Graduate of an accredited School of Nursing
- Current appropriate state licensure
- Current or successful completion of CPR BLS Certification
- Must meet the practice requirements in the state in which he or she is employed
- Must have a minimum of 9 months experience as a RN
- Must have a minimum of 3 months experience in chronic/acute hemodialysis as a RN
- Entry level for RNs with less than 2 years of Nephrology Nursing experience as a Registered Nurse
- Must be able to lift 50 lbs.
- Must be able to lift chemical and water solutions of up to 30 lbs.
- Must be able to lift machines and equipment of up to 200 lbs.
- Must be able to bend over
- Must be able to stand for prolonged periods
- Must be able to move patients and assist with ambulation
- Must be able to move machines and equipment with assistance
- Must be able to travel to training sites or other facilities
- Must be able to provide essential functions of this position in other locations
- Must be able to work in a health care facility with moderate noise levels
- Must be able to be exposed to infectious and contagious diseases/materials
- Must be able to perform desk work, computer work, interaction with patients, facility/hospital staff and physicians
- Must be able to complete CAP requirements to advance
