Job Summary
Assess, plan, and evaluate care for assigned patients undergoing hemodialysis, including pre- to post-treatment data collection and treatment plan modifications. Administer medications per protocol, document outcomes, and adjust interventions as needed. Direct and collaborate with Patient Care Technicians, LVNs, and other staff to ensure safe delivery of therapy. Educate patients and families on treatment modalities and transplant options while mentoring new employees. Monitor laboratory collections, initiate emergency responses, and participate in quality improvement projects. Requires 2+ years of nephrology nursing experience, current RN licensure, and BLS certification.
Required Qualifications
- Graduate of an accredited School of Nursing
- Current appropriate state licensure
- Current or successful completion of CPR BLS Certification
- Must meet the practice requirements in the state in which he or she is employed
- Must have a minimum of 3 months experience in chronic/acute hemodialysis as a RN
- Entry level for RNs with minimum of 2 years of Nephrology Nursing experience
- Must be able to lift 50 lbs.
- Must be able to lift chemical and water solutions of up to 30 lbs. as high as 5 feet
- Must be able to bend over
- Must be able to move, with assistance, machines, and equipment of up to 200 lbs.
- Must be able to perform frequent, prolonged periods of standing
- Must be able to move patients and assisting with ambulation
- Must be able to work in an environment with moderate noise levels
- Must be able to work in a health care facility
- Must be able to work with air temperature control
- Must be able to work with infectious and contagious diseases/materials
- Must be able to travel to training sites or other facilities
- Must be able to provide essential functions of this position in other locations
