Job Summary
Assess, plan, and evaluate care for assigned patients undergoing hemodialysis, including pre- and post-treatment data collection and treatment plan modifications. Administer medications per protocol, document outcomes, and collaborate with the interdisciplinary team to update nursing assessments. Provide patient and family education on transplant options and treatment modalities while directing daily therapy delivery in coordination with ancillary staff. Initiate emergency responses and ensure accurate laboratory collection and shipping procedures. Serve as a resource for the health care team, participate in staff training, and lead quality improvement activities. Requires 9+ months of RN experience with 3+ months in hemodialysis; day shift with on-call rotation.
Required Qualifications
- Graduate of an accredited School of Nursing
- Current appropriate state licensure
- Current or successful completion of CPR BLS Certification
- Must meet the practice requirements in the state in which he or she is employed
- Must have a minimum of 9 months experience as a RN
- Must have a minimum of 3 months experience in chronic/acute hemodialysis as a RN
- Entry level for RNs with less than 2 years of Nephrology Nursing experience as a Registered Nurse
- Must be able to lift 50 lbs
- Must be able to lift chemical and water solutions of up to 30 lbs
- Must be able to bend over
- Must be able to move machines and equipment of up to 200 lbs
- Must be able to stand for prolonged periods
- Must be able to move with assistance
- Must be able to travel to training sites or other facilities
- Must be able to provide essential functions of this position in other locations
- Must be able to work in a drug-free workplace
