Job Summary
Conduct daily hemodialysis therapy for assigned patients, administering medications per approved algorithms and documenting medical justifications. Perform ongoing patient data collection pre-, during, and post-treatment to adjust treatment plans and notify the Team Leader as needed. Assess and educate patients and families on basic learning needs, transplant options, and treatment modalities. Direct ancillary staff including Patient Care Technicians and LVNs/LPNs while serving as a mentor and role model for new employees. Ensure accurate laboratory collection, processing, and shipping procedures are completed. Participate in facility and area-level quality improvement projects and education initiatives. Maintain current state licensure and complete CAP requirements to advance within the Clinical Advancement Program.
Required Qualifications
- Graduate of an accredited School of Nursing
- Current appropriate state licensure
- Current or successful completion of CPR BLS Certification
- Must meet the practice requirements in the state in which he or she is employed
- Must have a minimum of 2 years of Nephrology Nursing experience
- Must be able to lift 30 lbs. as high as 5 feet
- Must be able to move, with assistance, machines, and equipment of up to 200 lbs.
- Must be able to bend over
- Must be able to perform frequent, prolonged periods of standing
- Must be able to handle exposure to infectious and contagious diseases/materials
- Must be able to travel to training sites or other facilities
- Must be able to provide essential functions of this position in other locations

- Must be able to delegate appropriate tasks to direct patient care staff including but not limited to RNs, LVN/LPNs, and Patient Care Technicians

- Must be able to ensure patient awareness related to transplant and treatment modality options
- Must be able to participate in education and quality improvement projects at the facility and area level

- Must be able to perform all duties in accordance with Fresenius Kidney Care policy, procedures, standards of nursing practice, state, and federal regulations

- Must be able to work under the direction of the Supervisor and with guidance from the Clinical Educator, Preceptor or in collaboration with other Registered Nurses
- Must be able to work as a member of the End Stage Kidney Disease (ESKD) health care team
