Outpatient Registered Nurse - RN - Dialysis

Job Summary
Outpatient RN CAP 1 provides and coordinates clinically competent care for an assigned group of dialysis patients, including assessment, planning, intervention, and evaluation. Responsibilities include documenting in patient records, adjusting treatment plans as needed, educating patients and families, directing safe delivery of hemodialysis, administering medications per protocol, initiating emergency responses, serving as a resource and trainer for staff, ensuring proper lab processing, updating nursing plans of care, informing patients about transplant and treatment options, and fulfilling CAP requirements. Works under supervision with potential oversight of Patient Care Technicians/LPNs/LVNs/RNs and may travel to training sites. Requires graduation from an accredited School of Nursing, active state licensure, CPR/BLS certification, and RN experience in nephrology/hemodialysis (entry level with 0-2 years in nephrology nursing preferred).
Required Qualifications
- Graduate of an accredited School of Nursing
- Current appropriate state licensure
- Current or successful completion of CPR BLS Certification
- Must meet the practice requirements in the state in which he or she is employed
- Entry level for RNs with less than 2 years of Nephrology Nursing experience as a Registered Nurse
- Chronic/acute hemodialysis experience (preferred)
