Required Qualifications

• •Registered Nurse (RN)
• •Graduate of an accredited School of Nursing
• •Current appropriate state licensure
• •Current or successful completion of CPR BLS Certification
• •Must meet the practice requirements in the state in which he or she is employed
• •Minimum of 2 years of Nephrology Nursing experience
• •Must have a minimum of 3 months experience in chronic/acute hemodialysis as a RN
• •Must be able to lift 30 lbs.
• •Must be able to move machines and equipment of up to 200 lbs.
• •Must be able to bend over
• •Must be able to stand for prolonged periods
• •Must be able to travel to training sites or other facilities
• •Must be able to provide essential functions of this position in other locations
• •Must be able to work in an environment with moderate noise levels
• •Must be able to be exposed to infectious and contagious diseases/materials
• •Must be able to perform heavy lifting, moving of patients and assisting with ambulation
• •Must be able to perform desk work, computer work and interaction with patients, facility/hospital staff and physicians
• •Must be able to complete CAP requirements to maintain or advance
• •Must be able to delegate appropriate tasks to direct patient care staff including but not limited to RNs, LVN/LPNs, and Patient Care Technicians
• •Must be able to participate in decision-making, teaching, leadership functions, and quality improvement activities
• •Must be able to perform ongoing, systematic collection and analysis of patient data pre – during – post hemodialysis treatment
• •Must be able to administer medications as prescribed or in accordance with approved algorithm(s)
• •Must be able to initiate or assist with emergency response measures
• •Must be able to serve as a resource, leader, coach, mentor and role model
• •Must be able to ensure correct laboratory collection, processing and shipping procedures are performed
• •Must be able to identify expected outcomes, documents, and updates the nursing assessment and plan of care
• •Must be able to ensure patient awareness related to transplant and treatment modality options
• •Must be able to participate in education and quality improvement projects at the facility and area level
• •Must be able to serve as a Preceptor to new employees
• •Must be able to work in accordance with Fresenius Kidney Care policy, procedures, standards of nursing practice, state, and federal regulations
• •Must be able to work under the direction of the Supervisor and with guidance from the Clinical Educator, Preceptor or in collaboration with other Registered Nurses
• •Must be able to make adjustments or modifications to treatment plan as indicated
• •Must be able to notify Team Leader, Charge Nurse, Supervisor or Physician as needed
• •Must be able to provide initial and ongoing education to patients and family
• •Must be able to direct and provide, in collaboration with direct and ancillary patient care staff, all aspects of the daily provision of safe and effective delivery of hemodialysis therapy to assigned patients
• •Must be able to document appropriate medical justification and effectiveness
• •Must be able to reschedule missed or insufficient laboratory collections
• •Must be able to collaborate with the Interdisciplinary Team
• •Must be able to work as a member of the End Stage Kidney Disease (ESKD) health care team
• •Must be able to perform all essential functions of this job
• •Must be able to work in a drug-free workplace
• •Must be able to work in a health care facility with air temperature control
• •Must be able to work with patients, facility/hospital staff and physicians
