Job Summary
Provide Medical Nutrition Therapy to individuals with specialized health conditions using the Nutrition Care Process and advanced counseling techniques. Estimate needs and nutrition goals through technology such as indirect calorimetry and nutrient analysis software. Mentor newly graduated dietitians, dietetic interns, and clinical diet techs while applying research to improve patient outcomes. Manage nutrition care across the continuum, including durable medical equipment order writing and Registered Dietitian Nutritionist order writing privileges. Work within the oncology department at UV, AF, and Saratoga Springs, utilizing experience-based knowledge and diagnostic reasoning skills with moderate autonomy.
Required Qualifications
- Registered Dietitian with the Commission on Dietetic Registration
- Completion of an ACEND accredited Didactic Program in Dietetics, Dietetic Internship, Coordinated Program, or graduate-level competency-based dietitian nutritionist program
- State licensure or certification in accordance with the primary state of practice requirement for Registered Dietitians
- Demonstrated ability to apply the Nutrition Care Process in multiple patient populations and/or disease types
- Demonstrated ability to interpret and apply evidence-based research to clinical practice
- 2 or more years of dietetics experience in a clinical setting
- Experience in managing patients in a specialty area
- Relevant dietetics-related specialty practice credential (CNSC, CSP, CDCES, CSO, CSR, CSOWM, etc.)
- Manual dexterity of hands and fingers to manipulate complex and delicate equipment with precision and accuracy
- Frequent interactions with patient care providers, patients, and visitors that require employee to verbally communicate as well as hear and understand spoken information, alarms, needs, and issues quickly and accurately, particularly during emergency situations
Desired Qualifications
- Completion of a minimum of a master's degree by an accredited university
- If the primary state of practice requires licensure or certification, this must be obtained within 6 months of hire
- 2 or more years of dietetics experience in a clinical setting, preferred
- Experience in managing patients in a specialty area, preferred
- Relevant dietetics-related specialty practice credential (CNSC, CSP, CDCES, CSO, CSR, CSOWM, etc.), preferred
