Outpatient Phlebotomist

Phlebotomist collects specimens from patients of all ages served by the hospital, uses the laboratory information system to document specimen collection information and order testing, determines medical necessity, may transport specimens, ensures proper labeling and acceptability, and provides detailed collection instructions to patient customers. Requires exceptional customer service, strong organizational skills, independent judgment, flexibility in workflow, teamwork aptitude, and empathy. Responsibilities include accessioning samples, inventory management, administrative/clerical support, answering multi-line calls, facilitating result reporting, ensuring device and sample integrity, assisting with special projects, and ongoing professional development.
