Job Summary
Perform high-quality MRI examinations in accordance with established protocols while maintaining image quality, patient safety, and efficient workflow. Complete patient screening, exam documentation, and image verification in RIS and PACS to support timely physician interpretation. Maintain image quality, productivity, and efficient patient workflow by adhering to departmental standards and modality-specific protocols. Provide safe, compassionate, patient-centered care throughout the imaging process. Utilize the SHIELD reporting platform when events occur outside a normal encounter. Adhere to all MRI safety requirements, including zone protocols, implant screening, and ferromagnetic safety practices. Perform routine equipment quality control checks, assisting with troubleshooting equipment malfunctions and placing tickets as needed. Support onboarding and training of staff and students. Participate in performance improvement initiatives related to quality, efficiency, patient, employee, and physician satisfaction, and safety.
Required Qualifications
- Graduated from an accredited school of imaging
- Registry eligible by the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT) or the American Registry of Magnetic Resonance Imaging Technologists (ARMRIT) in MRI
- Must obtain registry within 1 year of hire
- Must be able to produce very high-quality special imaging with little supervision
- Must be able to function effectively in a team-oriented environment
- Must be familiar with age-specific criteria
- Current Basic Life Support (BLS) required, either a certification from an American Heart Association (AHA) BLS for Healthcare Providers (or AHA recognized equivalent) or an American Red Cross CPR/AED for Professional Rescuer and Healthcare Provider
- Proactively maintains and renews ARRT, state license, BLS, PPD, respirator fit test, and POC training
- Graduated from an accredited imaging program
- Registry eligible ARRT(MR)
- Must obtain MRI registration within 1 year of hire date
- 1-2 years BLS Experience
- General MRI exams, implants, elastography, and defecography
- Ability to perform job functions while standing

- Ability to lift objects from floor level to height of 72 inches, to 50lbs, unassisted
- Ability to lower objects, to 50lbs (+/-), from height of 72 inches, unassisted
- Ability to push/pull objects/patients to 350lbs (+/-), unassisted
- Ability to maintain 20/40 vision, corrected
- Ability to see and recognize objects close at hand
- Ability to see and recognize objects at a distance
- Ability to match or discriminate between colors
- Ability to determine distance/relationship between objects; depth perception
- Good peripheral vision capabilities
- Ability to maintain hearing acuity, with correction
- Ability to hear and understand whispered conversations at a distance of 3 feet
- Ability to perform gross motor functions with frequent fine motor movements
- Ability to be qualified physically (by medical personnel) for respirator use, initially and annua
- Ability to deal effectively with stressful situations
- Must possess excellent communication skills, both verbal and written
- Computer literacy
- Ability to work overtime as required
- Ability to learn and use new processes, tools, and equipment as required
- 0-2 years of modality specific experience required
- Must be registered with the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT)
- ARRT MRI registration required within one year
- Current Basic Life Support (BLS) required, either a certification from an American Heart Association (AHA) BLS for Healthcare Providers (or AHA recognized equivalent) or an American Red Cross CPR/AED for Professional Rescuer and Healthcare Provider
Desired Qualifications
- Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) preferred
