Job Summary
Outpatient Coder (Remote) supports Dayton Children’s HIM Department by accurately assigning diagnostic and procedural codes for emergency department, specialty clinics, inpatient, observation, and outpatient services to ensure clean claim submission. Responsibilities include reviewing electronic medical documentation to interpret and report appropriate codes; requires familiarity with ED/inpatient/outpatient coding, pediatric population, and multiple coding certifications. Education: high school diploma or GED required; an associate degree or higher preferred. Certifications such as CCS, CCS-P, RHIA, RHIT, CPC, or CIMC are requested. 2+ years coding experience preferred and Dayton Children’s emphasizes safety, compassion, teamwork, and an inclusive work environment. Required Qualifications
- 2+ years coding experience (preferred)
- CCS – Certified Coding Specialist
- CCS-P – Certified Coding Specialist, Physician-based
- RHIA – Registered Health Information Administrator
- RHIT – Registered Health Information Technician
- CPC – Certified Professional Coder
- CIMC - Certified Internal Medicine Coder
- High school diploma or GED required
- Associates degree or higher preferred
