Job Summary
Assist the physician or advance practice provider with patient flow, intake, vital signs, procedures, and administrative tasks. Greet patients and family, schedule appointments and tests efficiently, and answer the telephone promptly. Obtain, verify, and update patient information including demographics, insurance, and HIPAA forms. Prepare examination rooms, collect and label lab specimens, and accurately document allergies, medication lists, and vital signs in the EHR. Monitor supply inventory, complete requisitions, and maintain proficiency with department-specific equipment while adhering to universal safety precautions.
Required Qualifications
- High School Diploma/GED
- Must obtain BLS within 60 days of hire
- Ability to communicate in English, both orally and in writing
- Ability to organize and perform multiple tasks in a timely manner
- Basic proficiency in computer use
- Physical strength to lift heavy objects, carts, or items, taking frequency and weight into consideration
- Physical mobility, which includes movement from place to place on the job, taking distance and speed to account
- Physical agility, which includes ability to maneuver body while in place
- Dexterity of hands and fingers
- Balance is maintained during climbing, bending and/or reaching
- Endurance (e.g. continuous typing, prolonged standing/bending, walking)
- Demonstrates flexibility with various work schedules
- Recognizes and performs duties which need to be performed although not directly assigned
Desired Qualifications
- A background in the medical field preferred but not required
- Excellent customer service skills
- Ability to be a team player
- Ability to perform well in difficult situations
- Knowledge of medical office and terminology is preferred
- Experience with Standard Office Equipment (Phone, Fax, Copy Machine, Scanner, Email/Voice Mail) preferred
- Experience with Standard Office Technology in a Window based environment preferred
