Job Summary
Install mechanical systems on new construction boats and assist with electrical installations, including propulsion engines, steering systems, and hydraulic piping. Perform mechanical repairs as needed while reading technical drawings and schematics. Communicate clearly with the production team and maintain a clean work environment. Operate a forklift and work in extreme temperatures within a fast-paced shipyard environment.
Required Qualifications
- Strong mechanical aptitude and troubleshooting ability
- Proficiency in using hand and power tools
- Ability to read and interpret technical drawings, blueprints, and schematics
- Basic understanding of mechanical, hydraulic, and electrical systems
- Attention to detail to ensure high-quality installations and repairs
- Effective time management and organizational skills
- Strong communication skills
- Ability to follow safety protocols and maintain a clean work environment
- Physical stamina and dexterity to work in various positions and environments
- Problem-solving mindset with the ability to adapt to changing tasks and priorities
- Punctual with a high attendance rate
- Capable of working independently and collaboratively as part of a team
- Ability to operate a forklift
- Ability to walk to and from job sites, climb inclined stairways, and use vertical ladders
- Frequent bending, squatting, crawling, twisting, standing, walking, sitting, and use of hands/fingers for various tasks
- Occasional reaching, climbing, balancing, stooping, kneeling, and crawling
- Frequent lifting of up to 20 lbs, with occasional lifting of up to 50 lbs
- The ability to work in extreme temperatures and conditions, including areas with limited ventilation
- The ability to enter and work in confined spaces, such as manholes
- The ability to work at heights
- Occasional use of a respirator
- Wearing required safety gear, including a hard hat, gloves, safety glasses, and protective clothing
- Regular exposure to noise from machinery and equipment
- Applicants must be eligible to work in the United States
- Applicants must be at least 18 years of age
