Job Summary
Manage the Outdoor Pursuits Department by coordinating land, water, and Kids Club programming while instructing staff and vendors on safety protocols for activities like snorkeling, paddleboarding, and tennis. Direct team operations through daily briefings, staff hiring, and training, ensuring strict compliance with Standard Operating Procedures and marine safety standards. Oversee departmental budget, maintain equipment inventory, and generate activity reports to continuously enhance member experiences. This role requires flexible hours including evenings, weekends, and holidays, with a focus on delivering high-service standards within Makena Golf & Beach Club's private resort environment.
Required Qualifications
- Minimum three (3) years of experience in a 4-5 star resort setting or in the luxury related field
- Minimum three (3) years' experience of staff supervision
- Full knowledge of all Outdoor Pursuits services/activities
- First aid/CPR qualified
- Lifeguard and Ocean Safety training
- Knowledge of outdoor recreation and marine environment
- Capability and comfort swimming in the ocean
- Previous experience teaching/coaching outdoor watersports
- Previous experience in the guest service industry
- Ability to read, write, speak, and understand English
- Ability to meet the physical demands of the position including, but not limited to, working indoors and outdoors in all weather conditions, standing, walking, and moving for periods of greater than eight (8) hours, and lifting and carrying items sometimes greater than fifty (50) pounds
