Job Summary
Prepare and present outdoor education programs covering science, nature, team building, and other assigned topics at the Lincoln Marsh Natural Area and traveling outreach sites. Maintain and inventory program equipment, supervise participants while enforcing rules, and record attendance rosters, inspection logs, and reports. Transport gear to various institutions and facilities, and report maintenance needs for areas and equipment. Administer first aid and CPR, ensuring safety through strict protocol implementation. Communicate effectively with supervisors, coworkers, and participants while providing professional customer service. Follow District policies and support the mission vision. Requires a valid driver's license, CPR/AED certification, and ability to handle physical demands including uneven terrain and weather exposure.
Required Qualifications
- Must be at least 18 years old
- Must have a high school diploma or equivalent
- Must have a valid driver's license with acceptable driving record
- Must be CPR/AED certified or obtain within 90 days employment
- Must be a mandated reporter for the 'Abused and Neglected Child Reporting Act'
- Must meet the requirements for site specific challenge course certifications
Desired Qualifications
- Progress towards a bachelor's degree with a preference in Environmental Science, Outdoor Education, Recreation, or other Education field
- Experience and knowledge presenting programs to diverse audiences ranging in age from 18 months through adults, in classroom and/or informal settings
- A working knowledge of parks and recreation field as well as local flora and fauna
- Great problem solving, analytical, organizational, interpersonal; written and verbal communication skills
