Outdoor Education Program Instructor

Job Summary
Facilitate outdoor education, canoe/kayak instruction, and high-ropes challenge courses for school-age participants while adapting to weather, staffing, and operational needs. Maintain a safe, clean environment through equipment sanitation, program setup, and take-down. Develop open communication with staff and participants. Requires post-secondary education in outdoor or child/youth fields, waterfront experience, and certifications such as Paddle Canada or LSS. Valid Canadian work permit and recent police record check are mandatory. Full-time contract role from August 24, 2026, to December 31, 2026, with physical demands including 8–12 hours of standing and moderate activity.
Required Qualifications
- Formal post-secondary education in an Outdoor related discipline (environmental studies, outdoor recreation, outdoor adventure, etc.) or equivalent experience
- Formal post-secondary education in Child and Youth Care, Recreation, Education, or a related field
- Fluent in English, oral and written
- Valid permit to work in Canada
- A Police Record check, not more than 6 months old
- Minimum of one season experience working outdoors in a waterfront setting
- Ability to stand, walk, for up to 8-12 hours
- Moderate level of physical activity engage in swim, canoeing, kayaking, sports and play with program participants
- Semi-annually, staff must complete the mandatory training for the protection of Children & Youth and submit the certificate of completion
Desired Qualifications
- Formal post-secondary education in Child and Youth Care, Recreation, Education, or a related field is considered an asset
- Paddle Canada, LSS Instructor, ACCT Level I/II, or other relevant certifications
- Other languages
