Job Summary
Plan, lead, and implement core and non-core programs for children in small and large group settings while ensuring their safety, development, and skill achievement. Organize weekly activities including crafts, sports, swimming, and field trips, while identifying and responding to camper behavior issues. Maintain clean facilities, communicate with parents regarding experiences and concerns, and keep accurate records of incidents and attendance. Enforce all safety guidelines and emergency procedures, and assist in maintaining camp records. Work between 8 and 40 hours weekly from September through May under the direction of the Director of Camping.
Required Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent
- One (1) year experience working with children
- demonstrate creativity, enthusiasm, and dedication
- experience working with youth in a group setting
- creating and implementing lesson plans
- skills necessary to provide safe, appropriate and fun activities
- Ability to walk, stand, and sit (including on the floor) for long periods of time
- hand-eye coordination and manual dexterity to manipulate equipment
- Must be able to lift and/or assist children up to 50 pounds in weight
- Must be able to lift and carry supplies and equipment weighing up to 20 pounds
- Ability to stand or sit while maintaining alertness for several hours at a time
- Ability to speak concisely and effectively communicate
- Visual and auditory ability to respond to critical situations
- physical ability to act swiftly in an Emergency
Desired Qualifications
- CPR and First Aid certification
- Multi-lingual ability
- Chauffeur's license
