OTR Tire Technician (Aurora)

Job Summary

Assist experienced Tiremen until fully trained, set up haul trucks and heavy equipment for tire work, and prepare and assemble OTR tires for installation or repair. Operate tire manipulators to assemble or install wheel and tire assemblies, or receive training on these tools. This 14x14 schedule includes 12-hour shifts with overtime provided after 8 hours daily or 44 hours weekly. Candidates must provide a valid Class 5 Driver's License, CSO/BSO certification, and complete pre-employment testing including random drug and alcohol tests. NASI supplies transportation from Fort McMurray to the Syncrude-Aurora site, where you will work as part of a remote mining team supporting heavy equipment maintenance.

Required Qualifications

  • Previous experience dis-assembling/assembly and removal/installation of OTR tire/wheel assemblies
  • Valid Class 5 Driver's License
  • Ability to provide a recent Driver's Abstract
  • Valid CSO or BSO (Energy Safety Canada)
  • Silica Awareness (Energy Safety Canada)
  • Wood Buffalo Wildlife Awareness (Energy Safety Canada)
  • OHS Alberta Legislation Awareness (Energy Safety Canada)
  • H2S Awareness (Energy Safety Canada)
  • Field Ergonomics (Energy Safety Canada)
  • Must be subject to Random Testing at: Suncor, Suncor Fort Hills and Kearl sites
  • Must undergo and successfully pass the following pre-employment testing: Breath Alcohol Test, Urine Drug Test
  • Must be willing to be trained on Tire manipulators (forklift or Loader style)
  • Must be willing to be trained on Tire truck (knuckle boom) manipulators
  • Must be able to operate Tire manipulators to assemble/install wheel/tire assemblies
  • Must be able to set up haul trucks and heavy equipment for tire work
  • Must be able to prepare and assemble OTR tires for installation/repair
  • Must be able to assist experienced Tireman until fully trained (level 1)
  • Must be available for 14 x 14 (days only) 12 hour shifts (paid 11.5 hrs)
  • Must be able to work 6 months +, may be extended
  • Must be able to work at Syncrude-Aurora site
  • Must be able to receive transportation from Fort McMurray to site (before and after shifts)
  • Must be able to work overtime after 8 hours in a day or 44 hours in a week
  • Must be able to provide PPE (CSA certified steel toed boots)
  • Must be able to work in a remote mining site in the Fort McMurray area
  • Must be able to work under a CLAC position and candidates working under NASI will be under the collective agreement

Desired Qualifications

  • Class 3 license preferred
  • Tire Industry Association Certificate (TIA) or TIA Training is an asset
  • Tire Manipulator (forklift or Loader style) experience an asset
  • Tire truck (knuckle boom) manipulator experience an asset

Additional Requirements

  • May be subject to Random Testing at Suncor, Suncor Fort Hills and Kearl sites
