Job Summary
OTR Class A CDL Driver is responsible for the safe and efficient transportation of mail over long distances, typically spanning multiple states, while maintaining DOT/HOS-compliant logs and records. The role requires performing thorough pre-trip and post-trip inspections, effective communication with clients and dispatch, and adherence to safety policies. Candidates must have a valid Class A CDL with appropriate endorsements, a clean MVR, minimum 3 years of verifiable driving experience, a valid DOT medical card, and the ability to work nights, weekends, and holidays. The position involves operating 26' box trucks with lift gates and tractor trailers for in-state and out-of-state deliveries, handling loading/unloading, documenting inspections and deliveries, reporting incidents, managing fuel and trip expenses, and completing required trainings.
Required Qualifications
- High School Diploma or GED equivalent preferred
- Valid Class A Commercial Driver's License (CDL) with appropriate endorsements as required by federal and state regulations
- Minimum of 3 years of verifiable commercial driving experience as a Class A CDL Driver
- Must have and maintain a clean driving record (MVR) with no major violations or accidents within the past 3-5 years
- Must have a valid DOT Medical Examination Card
- Must pass all pre-employment and continuous background screening and monitoring including but not limited to (criminal, MVR, random drug and alcohol screenings, active clearinghouse status)
- Must be able to speak English at a proficient level as described by FMCSA
- Ability to read, write and comprehend delivery instructions
- Ability to communicate effectively with all levels
- Must be dependable and respond to management direction
- Must always present a professional appearance and possess a strong work ethic
- Extended periods on the road with the requirement of flexibility and availability to work an extended work week, including nights, weekends and holidays
