Job Summary
Safely transport steel products to customer locations and return scrap metal and crushed vehicles to the Midlothian facility, performing pre-trip and post-trip vehicle inspections and completing light preventative maintenance as needed. Secure loads including tarping when required, maneuver trucks into loading positions, and complete drop-and-hook deliveries while complying with all DOT regulations and company safety policies. Report any vehicle defects, accidents, or safety concerns promptly. This full-time position requires a minimum of three round trips per week and involves frequent driving, extended sitting, and outdoor work in varying weather conditions. Drivers must possess a valid Class A CDL with at least one year of experience, maintain reliable attendance, and pass a DOT-required physical and drug screening.
Required Qualifications
- Valid Class A Commercial Driver's License (CDL)
- Minimum of one year of Class A commercial driving experience
- Must be at least 23 years of age
- Must maintain reliable attendance and arrive on time for all scheduled shifts
- Drivers are expected to complete a minimum of three round trips per week
- Successfully pass a DOT-required pre-employment physical and drug screening in accordance with 49 CFR Parts 391 and 40
- No DUI or DWI convictions within the past three years
- No more than one at-fault accident within the past three years
- Dependable with excellent attendance and punctuality
- Safety-focused with strong attention to detail
- Self-motivated and able to work independently
- Professional and courteous when interacting with customers and coworkers
- Adaptable and able to work in a fast-paced environment while maintaining a positive attitude
Desired Qualifications
- High school diploma or GED preferred
- Experience with drop-and-hook deliveries preferred
- Knowledge of DOT regulations, vehicle inspections, and safe cargo securement practices
- Ability to perform pre-trip and post-trip inspections and basic preventative maintenance
