Job Summary
OT Security Engineer to help build and secure the OT environment for the DSL-01 SAF facility in Delfzijl, Netherlands. You will secure critical production systems, design OT network architectures, manage cybersecurity risks, and support incident response across commissioning through full-scale operations. You will collaborate with OT Engineers, automation specialists, plant operations, and IT security teams to embed cybersecurity into the facility from day one, balancing cybersecurity with operational continuity and safety in a highly automated industrial environment. Responsibilities include securing production systems, designing OT networks, implementing practical security controls, and contributing to the overall security foundations of a greenfield refinery. Requirements include a degree or equivalent practical experience in Electrical Engineering, Industrial Automation, Computer Science, Cybersecurity or related field; 4+ years of cybersecurity experience in OT/ICS or industrial settings; knowledge of PLC/DCS/SCADA, OT networking and protocols (Ethernet/IP, Modbus TCP, OPC UA); familiarity with IEC 62443 and NIST 800-82; fluency in English (Dutch a plus). Certifications such as GICSP, CISSP, or ISA/IEC 62443 are desirable; experience in manufacturing or process industries and greenfield projects is beneficial.
Required Qualifications
- degree or equivalent practical experience in Electrical Engineering, Industrial Automation, Computer Science, Cybersecurity, or a related field
- at least 4 years of cybersecurity experience, including OT/ICS or industrial environments
- solid understanding of industrial control systems (PLC, DCS, SCADA)
- experience with OT networking and industrial protocols (Ethernet/IP, Modbus TCP, OPC UA)
- familiarity with IEC 62443 and NIST 800-82
- ability to balance cybersecurity, operational continuity, and safety in industrial environments
- fluency in English; Dutch language skills are a strong advantage
- nice to have: certifications such as GICSP, CISSP, ISA/IEC 62443
- experience in manufacturing, chemicals, energy, or process industries
- experience supporting greenfield projects or large-scale industrial facilities
- strong communication skills and ability to work across technical and non-technical teams
- pragmatic, risk-based approach to problem solving
- ability to translate complex security concepts into practical solutions for plant operations
