Job Summary
Administer, maintain, and improve critical industrial control systems supporting the City's electric utility, including SCADA, HMI, switches, routers, firewalls, and virtualized servers. Document existing architectures, manage backups, replication, and disaster recovery plans, and implement best practices for compliance with government regulations. Take a leadership role in data networks by planning, installing, and maintaining physical and logical infrastructure devices, remote access systems, and Windows-based operating systems. Perform advanced server operations, apply patches, and keep current on updates to inform management of changes affecting data and voice network operations. Collaborate with staff, technology providers, and contractors while working independently to prioritize tasks and meet deadlines. Complete FEMA Incident Command System certifications within the first six months of employment.
Required Qualifications
- Must have been employed in the Network Engineer field for the past one to two years performing the duties outlined in this job description.
- Valid Florida driver's license, with vehicle available to get to other City locations.
- Knowledge of Microsoft Server products.
- Knowledge of networking, routing, and switching protocols and proper network design infrastructure.
- Excellent working knowledge Windows network environments, including but not limited to: Windows Server OS and applications, Anti-Virus programs, TCP/IP connectivity, Internet, and MS Office Suite.
- Skill in the installation, repair, and maintenance of information technology systems.
- Skill in planning, organization, and decision making.
- Able to produce written documents in the English language with clearly organized thoughts using proper sentence construction, punctuation, and grammar.
- Able to act independently and logically to implement policies of supervisor.
- Able to comprehend and make inferences from written material.
- Able to learn job-related material primarily through oral instruction and observation.
- Able to effectively manage multiple tasks at once.
- All candidates must be United States citizens.
- Employees in this position will be required to complete the FEMA Incident Command System (ICS) Certification Levels 100, 200, 700 and 800 within the first six months of employment.
