OSP Telecommunications Field Engineer

Job Summary
Conduct detailed engineering site surveys to assess structural, electrical, and environmental readiness for telecommunications equipment installation. Design fiber optic routes and outside plant cable projects using CAD, develop construction prints, and coordinate facility relocations for roadway improvements. Evaluate existing infrastructure to recommend performance optimizations, configure and troubleshoot active network equipment, and perform field inspections to verify construction quality. Collaborate with utility companies, contractors, and permitting agencies to manage make-ready work and project timelines while maintaining accurate engineering documentation. Requires a Bachelor's degree in Engineering or Telecommunications, 3-5 years of OSP experience, CAD proficiency, and a valid driver's license. Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Computer Science, or Telecommunications
- 3-5 years of relevant telecommunications engineering experience
- Experience designing fiber optic networks, outside plant (OSP), or telecommunications infrastructure
- Proficiency with CAD software and interpreting engineering drawings, construction prints, and technical documentation
- Working knowledge of fiber optic construction practices, utility coordination, and telecommunications infrastructure
- Familiarity with routing, switching, optical transport equipment, or other active network technologies
- Strong analytical, problem-solving and organizational skills
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills with the ability to collaborate across departments and with external partners
- Ability to manage multiple projects while meeting deadlines
- Valid driver's license with an acceptable driving record
- Frequent travel throughout Michigan's Upper Peninsula and Northern Lower Peninsula
Desired Qualifications
