Job Summary
Install and blow locate string lines in underground conduit systems using motorized equipment to pull fiber cable and MSTs. Excavate with shovels, restore disturbed soil, and verify fiber changes by documenting discrepancies. Operate hydraulic aerial lifts, climb ladders, and splice up to 144 fibers in various cases while terminating to Clearfield Cassette or MDUs. Test fiber in the field with power meters and VFLs, troubleshoot issues, and update splice documentation in SmartSheets. Maintain company vehicles, complete driver logs, and perform basic underground plant maintenance. Work overtime as needed, including after-hours restorations during emergencies, while traveling up to 50% of the time.
Required Qualifications
- High School Diploma or equivalent
- 1 year telecommunication experience preferred
- Raise objects up to 50 lbs
- Remain upright on feet for extended periods
- Remain stationary for extended periods
- Ability to communicate information
- Ability to crouch and crawl
- Move on foot up to 10 miles per day
- Ability to bend, kneel, and stand
- Ability to crawl in tight spaces
- Ability to ascend/descend a ladder
- Ability to carry tools and equipment
- Ability to operate a computer
- Ability to observe details at far range
- Ability to operate hand tools and equipment
- Ability to operate machinery
