Job Summary
Prepare detailed construction and installation drawings for fiber cable fields, splicing sequences, and new overhead or underground links to optimize network utilization. Provide labor and materials cost estimates, perform design loss calculations, and map routes using CAD and manual processes while researching International Construction Measurement Standards. Manage OSP work schedules, develop cost studies, and track project progress against timelines. Liaise with city officials for permitting, manage land acquisition easements, and provide real-time direction to colleagues to meet contractual obligations. Escalate technical or scheduling issues that impact customer progress and oversee design-permitting vendors to ensure alignment with business objectives.
Required Qualifications
- 5+ years' technical experience working in OSP Engineering, Construction, or Operations
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Associate's degree
- Fiber and telecommunications industry experience
- Strong knowledge of OSHA rules, site safety, National Electric Safety Code (NESC) requirements, and associated construction and telecommunications federal and local regulations
- Proactive, independent, and collaborative - takes initiative to keep on-task and on-target
- Able to respond promptly, manage multiple tasks & customer needs, and prioritize progress toward deadlines in a fast-paced environment
- Able to create reports, presentations, and project documentation
- Google Earth and various fiber mapping platforms
- OSP construction
- Site preparation and permitting
- OSP testing and acceptance standards
- Creating design for local L2 and Transport architecture
- Applicants must be at least eighteen (18) years of age at the time of application
Desired Qualifications
- Excellent interpersonal skills, as well as written and verbal communication skills
- Demonstrated project management experience
- Proficient in MS Office
- High school diploma or equivalent preferred
- Associate's degree preferred
