Job Summary
Install underground fiber optic cable in duct banks, vault systems, and campus pathways using approved pulling methods. Set up reel trailers, capstans, and quadrant blocks; assist with placement of high-count fiber cables including ribbon fiber. Perform cable labeling, documentation, and route tracking; support splicing crews with preparation and rack staging. Assist testing teams with OTDR, OLTS, and continuity testing setup. Maintain accurate daily reports and safety documentation while adhering to all customer and company installation standards. Participate in daily Job Hazard Analysis and Pre-Task Planning meetings; inspect tools and immediately report unsafe conditions. Requires high school diploma, outside plant fiber installation experience, and ability to travel as required.
Required Qualifications
- High School Diploma or GED
- Ability to assist with installation of large-count fiber optic cables
- Must be able to lift and/or move up to 40 pounds
- Must be able to lift and/or move up to 25 pounds
- Must be able to regularly carry and climb ladders to 20 feet
- Must be able to operate equipment such as scissor lifts, telehandlers, boom lifts, and UTVs (buggies)
- Must be able to work in tight and confined spaces
- Must be able and willing to travel as required by E2 Optics
Desired Qualifications
- Experience working in outside plant fiber installation environments
- Understanding of underground duct systems and vault construction practices
- Familiarity with MaxCell installation, micro duct, air blown practices
