OSP Field Engineer

Job Summary
Conduct detailed field surveys for OSP fiber and copper networks by identifying, photographing, and sketching existing infrastructure including cables, poles, terminals, and handholes. Capture precise measurements of attachment heights, span distances, and distances to property lines or centerlines, while recording bonding, grounding, and guying data. Deliver comprehensive field notes and photos to the Engineering team to support proposed network layouts for aerial, buried, and underground conduit projects. Work in diverse outdoor environments using specialized tools like laser rangefinders and measuring wheels, often requiring travel to sites in Celebration, Lake Buena Vista, and Bay Lake.
Required Qualifications
- Competency and experience in Microsoft Office (Outlook, Word, Excel)
- Ability to quickly learn proprietary software and work in cloud-based technology
- Eagerness to adapt existing processes to new, improved systems
- Excellent organizational skills, time management, initiative, attention to detail, accuracy, follow through, and problem-solving skills
- Well-developed decision-making, analytical, and critical thinking skills with ability to effectively plan strategically to determine company, department, or unit objectives

- Ability to read and understand maps, conduit records, and layout drawings
- Understanding of OSP construction techniques
- Knowledge of outside plant activities (Fiber Cable Design, Pole Line Construction, Conduit System Design)
- Minimum of 2 years of relevant experience in Outside Plant Engineering/Construction work
- Must be able to pass a criminal background check and drug screening
- Must have a valid Driver's License with a satisfactory driving record
- Must be able to work flexible hours including holidays, weekends, and overnight work, as needed, to perform field site visits to meet with contractors, customers, and local agencies
- Must be able to lift objects up to 50 pounds or lifting more than 75 pounds with tool aids
- Must be able to use tools effectively, such as measuring wheels, height sticks, pull finders, MH/HH hooks, and laser rangefinder
Desired Qualifications
- Minimum of 2 years of experience with a telecommunications company, preferred
- Knowledge of Google Earth and AutoCAD, with a familiarity of SpatialNet, preferred
