Job Summary
The Orthotic Fitter provides on-site customer service and orthotic fitting based on prescribed treatments and recommendations made by the physician. Orthotic Fitters are trained and qualified to provide fitting services and delivery of orthotics, with competence to practice within a scope of fitting prefabricated/off-the-shelf devices not requiring major modification. Responsibilities include collaborating with orthotic practitioners, evaluating patient needs per physician prescription, performing fittings and minor modifications, ensuring device fit and efficacy, instructing patients in device use, maintaining patient satisfaction, on-call duties after hours, maintaining knowledge of HME products, monitoring devices over time, and ensuring compliance with federal/state regulations. Frequent travel to facilities and occasional travel to patient homes; building relationships with ordering physicians and referral sources; procuring medical documentation; facilitating patient discharges; and training patients and caregivers.
Required Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalency plus current and unrestricted Certification in Orthotics
- Certified through National Athletic Trainers Association/BOC plus a college degree
- Or must obtain a national certification within one year of accepting the position
- Two (2) years successful experience in providing services under the supervision of a certified practitioner.
- Minimum of 6 months of experience in providing customer services in a health care setting, medical office, sports rehab, fitness, or retail environment.
- Valid and unrestricted driver’s license from state of residence
