Job Summary
Measure, fit, and dispense braces and splints; apply and educate patients on durable medical equipment, bandages, casts, and splints as ordered by the physician. Research technical aspects of bracing and casting to serve as a resource to the medical team. Properly document and dictate in Athena (EMR) and Empower (Inventory) systems for all patients and items dispensed. Maintain the cast room in a clean, sanitary manner by wiping down surfaces with antimicrobial solution after each patient. Ensure casting and DME supplies are adequately ordered and stocked; receive orders and verify packing slip accuracy. Answer patient calls regarding casts, splints, or DME. Complete all paperwork and distribute it to proper team members for timely billing. Maintain assigned work areas in a clean, well-stocked condition. Assist Medical Assistants and support staff with patient room placement and other duties to ensure clinic flow. Attend regular staff meetings with the DME Manager and Supervisors. Regular hours M-F (8 hr shifts) with overtime options on Saturdays.
Required Qualifications
- Certified Athletic Trainer
- BS Degree
- minimum of 1 to 2 years in medical field
- Excellent communication skills both verbal and written
- Computer proficiency: MS Word, Excel, EMR systems
- Ability to perform tasks independently with the direction of the DME manager
- Demonstrate effective problem-solving skills
- Willingly perform other duties or tasks as assigned and handle multiple tasks effectively and efficiently
- Enjoy working as part of a team
- Regular hours M-F (8 hr shifts), option for overtime on Saturdays
- Assure compliance with all company plans, policies and procedures set forth by the Florida Orthopaedic Institute
- All other duties assigned
- All candidates will be required to undergo pre-employment drug screening and/or be subject to random drug testing
