Job Summary
Assess, prioritize, and provide direct orthopedic care to pediatric patients in the clinic. Partner with the healthcare team to meet specific goals and competencies established within the Orthopedic clinic. Transfer and ambulate patients while applying braces and utilizing orthopedic casting techniques. Maintain BLS certification and possess strong interpersonal skills to interact effectively with physicians, patients, and families. Work Monday through Friday from 8:00 am to 4:30 pm in a fast-paced environment.
Required Qualifications
- High School graduate or Certificate of General Educational Development (GED) or High School Equivalency Diploma (HSED)
- 1+ years pediatric experience in orthopedics
- BLS-Basic Life Support Healthcare Provider - American Heart Association/American Red Cross within 90 Days
- Must be able to transfer and ambulate patients
- Must be able to lift orthopedic devices
- Must be able to stand for long periods of time
- Must be able to lift objects up to 75 pounds
- Familiarity with personal computer operations and functions
- Ability to effectively communicate with patients, families, providers, staff, and leadership
- Good analytical ability to observe and communicate problems as they arise
- Good interpersonal skills to effectively interact with physicians, patients, parents and staff
- Requires flexibility of time and duties in order to work in a fast paced environment
- Monday-Friday 8:00 am - 4:30 pm (8 hr shift)
- No evenings
- No weekends
Desired Qualifications
- Course work in biology or physics
- CMA-Certified Medical Assistant - American Association of Medical Assistants
- ORTHO-Orthopedic Technician - National Board for Certification of Orthopedic Technologists, Inc.
- Knowledge of orthopedic surgery instruments
- Knowledge of orthopedic casting techniques
- Application of braces
- Normally acquired through a minimum of one year related experience
