Job Summary
Conduct direct physical therapy treatments aimed at preventing disabilities, relieving pain, and restoring muscle function by delivering manual exercises, traction, and massage tailored to individual patient needs. Perform thorough evaluations of clients' functional capabilities using diagnostic tests for muscle, nerve, and joint abilities, while assessing home and clinic environments to optimize patient independence. Oversee and mentor physical therapy assistants to ensure accurate implementation of treatment plans, and engage in interdisciplinary case conferences to review comprehensive care strategies. Document clinical records meticulously, including initial evaluations, progress notes, and discharge summaries, and consult patients on the application of therapy devices.
Required Qualifications
- Valid state licensure to practice as a Physical Therapist in New York
- Bachelor's degree in Physical Therapy from an accredited institution
- A minimum of 1 year of related experience in orthopedic physical therapy
- Strong interpersonal communication skills and the ability to build rapport with patients and colleagues
- Proficient in electronic health record (EHR) systems and able to document patient care effectively
Desired Qualifications
- Experience in outpatient orthopedic settings
- Advanced training or certifications in specialty areas such as manual therapy or sports rehabilitation
