Job Summary
Conduct thorough evaluations of patients' physical abilities and limitations, creating personalized treatment plans based on specific orthopedic conditions. Implement effective therapeutic interventions, including manual therapy, exercises, and modalities to enhance recovery. Monitor patient progress regularly, modifying strategies as necessary, and supervise physical therapy assistants during sessions. Communicate with patients, families, and interdisciplinary team members to ensure coordinated care, while documenting clinical findings and tracking progress through electronic medical records. Participate in case conferences to strategize patient care and evaluate home environments for necessary modifications. Instruct patients and families in home exercise programs and assistive device usage. Engage in ongoing education to stay current in best practices. This role focuses on orthopedic patients ranging from post-operative joint replacements to athletes and elderly individuals, situated at our state-of-the-art Long Beach Rehabilitation Center.
Required Qualifications
- A Doctorate in Physical Therapy (DPT) from an accredited program.
- A valid and active Physical Therapist license in the state of California.
- Deep understanding of orthopedic rehabilitation principles and practices.
- Strong critical thinking and problem-solving skills, with a focus on patient-centered care.
- Effective communication abilities, both written and verbal, to collaborate with patients and healthcare professionals.
- Proficiency in physical therapy documentation and familiarity with electronic medical records systems.
Desired Qualifications
- At least one year of clinical experience in a physical therapy role, preferably in an acute care or home care setting.
- Experience working with various age groups, particularly geriatrics and athletes.
- Demonstrated ability to develop and implement individualized treatment plans based on assessments and evaluations.
