Job Summary
Obtain and record patient vital signs, medical history, and reasons for visits; document symptoms, reactions, and treatment changes in the Electronic Medical Records. Perform tasks related to medication administration within scope, including compounding and quality control, while completing point of care testing as ordered. Provide basic patient care such as wound dressing, suture removal, phlebotomy, venipuncture, injections, and EKGs. Remove and apply upper and lower extremity splints and casts. Set up equipment, prepare exam rooms, and maintain clean, sterile working spaces using germicides and autoclaves. Assist providers with examinations, special tests, and procedures, including providing after-visit summaries and managing check-in/out functions and scheduling. Monitor supplies and medications, restock as necessary, and communicate ordering needs to assigned personnel. Ensure compliance with HIPAA, OSHA, and infection control standards. Complete Ambulatory Skills Orientation upon hire and annually thereafter. Travel may be required to accommodate staffing levels at other clinical facilities.
Required Qualifications
- A diploma from a Medical Assisting Program
- minimum of 1 year of medical assisting experience
- equivalent combination of medical assisting experience and education
- Ability to maintain quality, safety, and/or infection control standards
- Demonstrative effectiveness in conveying information both in writing and verbally
- High level of interpersonal skills to handle sensitive and confidential situations
- Successful completion of casting and splinting training
- Successful completion of pharmacy compounding training
- Must successfully complete Ambulatory Skills Orientation upon hire
- Will maintain compliance with required dress code
- Travel may be required to accommodate staffing levels at other clinical facilities
- Attendance, promptness, professionalism, attention to detail, professional collaboration with all members of the care team, and politeness to customers, vendors, and patients
Desired Qualifications
- Current BLS Certification
- Experience with EMR
- Medical Assistant Certification
