Job Summary
Provide care to clients with orthopaedic problems through the application, adjustment, and removal of casts, splints, and traction fittings, primarily in the Fracture Clinic setting. Perform dressing removal, suture and pin extraction, and apply specialized casts, fracture braces, and ambulatory aids while instructing patients and families on proper appliance care. Collaborate with physicians, nurses, and therapists to order and maintain equipment and supplies, ensuring aseptic technique during all procedures. Requires a recognized Orthopaedic Technologist Programme graduate, basic anatomy knowledge, and proficiency with Meditech Expanse. Schedule includes Monday to Thursday rotating 7.5-hour shifts between 0700-1700.
Required Qualifications
- High School graduate or equivalent
- Graduate from a recognized Orthopaedic Technologist Programme sanctioned by the C.S.O.T or equivalent training and experience
- Basic understanding of anatomy
- Ability to apply and remove all types of casts, splints and orthopaedic devices
- Understanding of theory and application skin and skeletal traction
- Understanding of the proper application of aseptic technique in dressing change, pin and suture removal, setting up of surgical fields
- Previous experience in Meditech Expanse preferably with Client Server platform, Order Entry and Electronic Medical Record applications
- Satisfactory employment and attendance record
- Proof of immunity for certain diseases
- Compliance with Halton Healthcare's Immunization Policies
- Proof of vaccination or proof of a documented medical exemption
