Job Summary
Provide care to clients with orthopaedic problems through the application, adjustment, and removal of casts, splints, and traction fittings, primarily in the Fracture Clinic setting. Perform dressing removal, suture and pin removal, and cast application using plaster or synthetic materials. Measure and fit patients for orthopaedic devices and ambulatory aids, instructing patients and families on appliance care. Collaborate with physicians, nurses, physiotherapists, and occupational therapists to obtain resources and maintain orthopaedic equipment and supplies. Hours are Monday to Friday with various rotating 7.5-hour shifts between 0700-1700. Salary ranges from $36.386 to $42.307 per hour.
Required Qualifications
- High School graduate or equivalent
- Graduate from a recognized Orthopaedic Technologist Programme sanctioned by the C.S.O.T or equivalent training and experience
- Basic understanding of anatomy
- Ability to apply and remove all types of casts, splints and orthopaedic devices
- Understanding of theory and application skin and skeletal traction
- Understanding of the proper application of aseptic technique in dressing change, pin and suture removal, setting up of surgical fields
- Previous experience in Meditech Expanse preferably with Client Server platform, Order Entry and Electronic Medical Record applications
- Satisfactory employment and attendance record
- Monday to Friday - Various rotating 7.5 hours shifts between 0700-1700
- Proof of immunity for certain diseases
- Compliance with Halton Healthcare's Immunization Policies
- Proof of vaccination or proof of a documented medical exemption
