Job Summary
Apply casts using plaster and synthetic materials, measure and fit patients with braces, splints, and ambulatory aids, and assist physicians with closed reduction of fractures and minor surgical procedures. Remove and apply wound dressings, remove sutures and external fixators, and document pertinent information in patient charts. Provide education to patients and families regarding wound, cast, and skin care while ordering and managing orthopaedic supplies. Maintain aseptic technique and upgrade skills through continuing education. Work collaboratively with interprofessional teams in the Fracture Clinic serving diverse adult patients.
Required Qualifications
- Ontario Secondary School Diploma or equivalent
- Current Orthopaedic Technologist (R.T. Orthopaed) registration with the Canadian Society of Orthopaedic Technologists
- Minimum one year experience working as an Orthopaedic Technologist
- Current Basic Life Support (BCLS)
