Job Summary
Assist orthopaedic surgeons in the operating room and outpatient procedures while conducting patient assessments, including medical history and physical examinations. Develop and implement treatment plans in collaboration with the healthcare team, provide patient education on rehabilitation and preventive care, and perform diagnostic and therapeutic procedures as permitted by state regulations. Maintain accurate medical records, participate in patient follow-up, and monitor progress throughout treatment. Stay current with advancements in orthopaedic practices and procedures. This role supports the diagnosis, treatment, and management of patients with musculoskeletal conditions at Dr Gates (Shoulder / Elbow) locations in Quarry, Westover Hills, and Medical Center. Nurse Practitioners with Surgical First Assist Certification are eligible to apply.
Required Qualifications
- Master's degree from an accredited Physician Assistant program
- Current certification by the National Commission on Certification of Physician Assistants (NCCPA)
- State licensure to practice as a Physician Assistant
- Previous experience in orthopaedics or a related field is preferred
- Strong clinical assessment and decision-making skills
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- Ability to work effectively in a team-oriented environment
- Proficient in performing physical examinations and diagnostic procedures
- Knowledge of orthopaedic conditions and treatments
- Strong organizational and time management abilities
- Ability to educate patients and families on health management
- Commitment to providing high-quality patient care
- Requires regular and predictable attendance
