Job Summary
Oromo Linguist position supporting current and future foreign language and linguistic requirements across YSG/TU, including interpretation (in-person/virtual), translation of written/audio/video materials, document review/editing, and foreign language instruction. Open evergreen requisition for multiple roles within language support offerings; opportunities may be tied to various clients and contracts. Remote/CONUS locations available with some travel; explicit focus on English↔foreign language translation and interpretation, cultural familiarity, and ability to work under high pressure as part of a professional team.
Required Qualifications
- Category I (CAT I): English ILR level 2+; local hire flexibility; security vetting by government personnel.
- Category II (CAT II): English ILR level 2+; US citizen with security vetting; potential interim SECRET access for specific contracts.
- Category III (CAT III): ILR level 3 in English; US citizen with TOP SECRET/SCI access or interim TS with SCI access.
- Experience providing foreign language instruction to adult students.
- Ability to provide idiomatic translations of nontechnical material English<->foreign language.
- Consecutive, accurate translation/interpretation of ongoing conversations.
- Familiarity with local culture and customs.
- Willingness to live and work in harsh environments and temporary facilities.
- Ability to work under high pressure and as part of a professional team.
- Knowledge of specialized vocabulary in English and foreign language related to government missions.
- Fluency in English and foreign language with regionalisms/slang preserved.
- Maintain tone and register in translations.
Additional Requirements
- US citizenship or local national/third country national status per CAT I; US citizenship with SECRET clearance for CAT II; US citizenship with TOP SECRET/SCI clearance for CAT III.
