Job Summary
The Orlando F. Gabriele Chair of Radiology leads WVU Medicine’s Department of Radiology with a focus on clinical care, education, and research. Allocation of time emphasizes administrative, educational, and scholarly duties (60-70%) alongside clinical service (30-40%). Responsibilities include curriculum development, teaching medical students, residents, and fellows; credentialing and privileging oversight; budgeting and financial stewardship; program development, mentorship, and promotion/tenure oversight; and strategic planning in alignment with WVU School of Medicine and WVU Medicine. The role requires an MD or DO, current ABR certification, a minimum of ten years of clinical practice with at least three years of administrative experience in an academic medical center, and an active West Virginia medical license. The successful candidate will demonstrate leadership, collaboration, integrity, and a commitment to excellence in patient care, education, and scholarly activity.
Required Qualifications
- MD or DO with current and ongoing certification by the American Board of Radiology
- At least ten (10) years of clinical practice experience and a minimum of three (3) years administrative experience in an academic medical center preferred
- Current medical licensure in the State of West Virginia
- Current appointment at Associate or Full Professor level
- Demonstrated leadership in education and research within radiology
- Ability to manage clinical operations, credentialing, and performance improvement
- Strong communication, mentoring, and collaboration skills
- Commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion in academic medicine
- Active involvement in professional societies and scholarly activities
- Strategic planning and budget management experience
- Experience with multidisciplinary collaboration and program development
- Familiarity with graduate medical education requirements
