Job Summary
Design photovoltaic solar and battery energy storage systems using AutoCAD and Helioscope, running energy models to validate performance and assess shading. Select major equipment for each site, identify value engineering opportunities, and create constructable design packages for Project Engineering handoff. Partner with Origination, Estimating, and M&A to integrate technical details into proposals and support site due diligence reviews. Manage multiple projects while communicating design concepts to both technical and non-technical colleagues. Bachelor's in Engineering (Electrical preferred) with 1–3 years of design experience; proficiency in AutoCAD and PVSyst. $90,000–$120,000 annually.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Engineering (Electrical preferred; Mechanical, Civil, and Energy Engineering backgrounds have also been successful in this role), or equivalent education and experience
- 1–3 years of experience designing solar and battery systems, or similar design experience using AutoCAD
- Proficiency with AutoCAD and PVSyst (or similar energy modeling software)
- Fundamental knowledge of electrical systems and circuitry
- Understanding of how photovoltaic solar and battery energy storage systems are designed and constructed
- Ability to clearly communicate design concepts, project risks, and technical ideas to both technical and non-technical colleagues — in conversation and on paper
- Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously while maintaining attention to detail and organization
