Job Summary
Orientation and Mobility Specialist (O&M) role supporting students with visual impairments in Houston-area schools. Provide direct O&M instruction, conduct assessments, develop and implement IEP goals, monitor progress, collaborate with teachers and multidisciplinary teams, participate in ARD/IEP meetings, provide staff and family training, and maintain compliant documentation. Requires ACVREP certification; TVI is a plus. Flexible scheduling with full-time or part-time placements based on district needs; bi-weekly pay and benefits available. Located in Houston, TX with school-based opportunities serving Pre-K through high school.
Required Qualifications
- Current certification as an Orientation and Mobility Specialist (ACVREP)
- Knowledge of assessment and instructional strategies for students with visual impairments
- Ability to develop and implement IEP goals and track progress
- Strong communication and collaboration skills
- Ability to work independently and manage a caseload effectively
- Strong organizational and documentation skills
- Certification as a Teacher of the Visually Impaired (TVI) is a plus
