Job Summary
Provide direct orientation and mobility instruction to students with visual impairments in Texas school settings; conduct assessments to evaluate mobility and travel needs; develop and implement IEP goals related to orientation and mobility; monitor student progress and adjust instruction; collaborate with teachers, staff, and multidisciplinary teams; participate in ARD/IEP meetings and provide recommendations; provide training and consultation to school staff and families as needed; maintain accurate and compliant documentation and reports.
Required Qualifications
- Current certification as an Orientation and Mobility Specialist (ACVREP)
- Knowledge of assessment and instructional strategies for students with visual impairments
- Ability to develop and implement IEP goals and track progress
- Strong communication and collaboration skills
- Ability to work independently and manage a caseload effectively
- Strong organizational and documentation skills
- Certification as a Teacher of the Visually Impaired (TVI) is a plus
