Orientation and Mobility Specialist I/II, The Hatlen Center

Develop and carry out individualized Orientation and Mobility instruction for adults who are blind or visually impaired, covering pre-cane skills, street crossings, public transportation, and route planning. Emphasize effective use of residual vision and sensory modes while making careful observations of client progress and maintaining detailed tracking notes. Participate in weekly group classes, conduct applicant interviews for client placement, and collaborate with community resources as an integral member of the rehabilitation team. Coordinate orientation and mobility skills training alongside financial management curriculum, prepare required reports, and maintain accurate inventory records. This role reports directly to the Program Manager at The Hatlen Center for the Blind and Visually Impaired, a pioneer in visual impairment education.
