Job Summary
Provides orientation and mobility instruction to clients of all ages; develops and maintains instructional and/or IEP goals; maintains relationships with other professionals; travels to client's natural environment for on-site instruction; conducts comprehensive assessments specific to low vision/blindness. Essential responsibilities include one-on-one orientation and mobility services to blind and visually impaired individuals and keeping current case notes in client files. Candidate should possess excellent customer service skills and actively contribute to team efforts in service quality and improvement.
Required Qualifications
- Master’s degree in orientation & mobility
- Thorough knowledge of eye anatomy and diseases of the eye
- The psychology of low vision
- The psychological implications of blindness
- General awareness of rehabilitation services
Desired Qualifications
- Two years’ experience in orientation & mobility instruction
- ACVREP certified
