Job Summary

Conduct direct community outreach through one-on-one meetings, phone banking, and events to recruit, develop, and retain volunteer leaders. Train and mentor community members in organizing, advocacy, and civic engagement skills while tracking their progress. Support campaign implementation by developing strategies, facilitating political education sessions, and coordinating mobilizations and public meetings. Build relationships with community organizations and coalitions to advance racial equity and civic engagement goals. Maintain accurate documentation of members, leaders, and campaign activities while collaborating with internal teams on organizational initiatives. Work mornings, evenings, and weekends as required, traveling throughout the assigned service area to support MFPS clients Mi Familia Vota and Mi Familia en Acción.

Required Qualifications

  • Minimum of two years of experience in community organizing, preferably within a membership-based organization or working with low-income communities
  • Demonstrated experience supporting community leadership development as an employee or in a highly responsible volunteer position
  • Ability to build authentic and respectful relationships across diverse communities
  • Knowledge of grassroots organizing, relational organizing, base-building, and community leadership-development practices
  • Ability to recruit, motivate, train, mentor, and support community members and volunteer leaders
  • Strong oral and written communication, facilitation, and interpersonal skills
  • Excellent organizational, time-management, and project-management skills
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities, meet deadlines, and follow through on commitments
  • Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to take initiative
  • Excellent attention to detail and commitment to maintaining accurate records
  • Ability to accurately enter, organize, maintain, and protect member and community information
  • Proficiency with basic computer systems, Microsoft Office, Google Workspace, and applicable organizing or database platforms, or the ability to learn new systems
  • Ability to work effectively both independently and collaboratively
  • Self-motivated, accountable, and results-oriented, with the ability to establish and achieve measurable goals
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality, exercise sound judgment, and handle sensitive information appropriately
  • Ability to work mornings, evenings, and weekends as required
  • Ability to travel within the assigned service area and to other locations as needed

Desired Qualifications

  • Experience working in nonprofit, advocacy, political, community engagement, or other mission-driven organizations preferred
