Job Summary
Organ Recovery Surgeon role focused on supporting, organizing, conducting, and directing the Vituity HEART Thoracic Donor Organ Transplant Recovery Program, including liaison work with administration and medical staff, ensuring compliance with ISHLT/UNOS/OPO guidelines, coordinating tissue typing and procurement services, supervising donor heart and lung graft recoveries for thoracic transplantation, and participating in quality assurance, training, and operational efficiency efforts across donor transplant teams. The position requires collaboration with physicians and transplant teams, adherence to safety standards, and involvement in inspections and regulatory surveys; travel across sites nationwide is implied by the program scope and multi-site responsibilities.
Required Qualifications
- Board Certified/Eligible Thoracic Surgery physicians required
- Valid license to practice medicine in the contiguous United States required
- Minimum of two years documented experience with a transplant program that meets UNOS membership qualifications
- Experience in pre-operative and post-operative care for 10-20 heart transplants and 10-20 lung transplants in UNOS-approved programs
- Minimum 20 thoracic transplants over more than two years
- 12 CME credits in thoracic transplantation or thoracic surgery every three years
